'“The best thing for being sad," replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, "is to learn something. That's the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.”' - Merlin Ambrosius, The Once and Future King

Academic Consulting:
From 2012 to 2015 I was on multiple academic teams that collaborated with the below companies to provide consulting services. All projects lasted approximately 5 months.

Goodwill: The group consisted of 7 members to create a more efficient on-boarding process for Goodwill employees in their Southeast region. The team implemented an exit survey disbursed after the 60-day training period to gauge quality of training. The team also advised Goodwill to host discussion sessions with 90-day employees for on-boarding and training feedback.

Gregory Gym: The group consisted of 5 member to conduct a feasibility study to address student concerns of the gym's cardio lounge being too crowded. The team conducted market, financial, and technical to see how feasible it was for Gregory Gym to expand the cardio area without expanding the building while remaining within the allotted gym renovation budget for the calendar year.  the market analysis verified student concerns across campus about the cardio lounge. The financial analysis examined the budget, including the cost of renovation and more equipment. The technical analysis provided a basis for build-out in the current area. The study concluded the renovation was possible upon the gym using team recommendation of contractors, equipment licensors, and time.

Darque Tan: The group consisted of 5 members in charge of revitalizing the training process at the tanning salon chain. The group recommended changes to the 5-day in class training to incorporate on-the-job training behind the counter. The new training program became a 2/3 day split between in-class and on-the-job training, respectively, per the survey results from new hires. The team also recommended the creation of job descriptions/responsibilities as well as KPIs. The team created two games pertaining to the tanning industry to help train employees while at work.

SourceOne Spares: The group consisted of 6 members set out to help correct an industry-specific challenge. To address the unorganized and untimely process of buying/selling airplane parts, the team recommend SourceOne Spares use its cash reserves to invest in: 1) an international, one-stop-shop, EFT-modeled database listing all available airplane parts and 2) an investment in a warehouse near a FedEx hub to counter shipping delays with larger parts.

Cow Tipping Creamery: The group consisted of 4 members tasked with creating social media awareness for the food truck to bring in more business. The team created a HootSuit account for the company to create a more organized and time-efficient process for posting to social media. The team also hosted a charity event in which a contest was held. The contest called for customers to post their creamy creation to Instragram, where the contestant with the most likes won a gift card and shirt. The event saw over 80 people in a two hour period, raising $150 for charity.

BP: The group consisted of 5 members set out to address an industry-specific challenge. The team chose to address the fall in oil prices near the end of 2014. The team conducted an industry and company analysis, utilizing historical significances, Porter's Five Forces, benchmarking, SWOT, and the strategy diamond. The team concluded BP is an efficient reliability with regards to its structure, people, rewards, and information/decision making processes. The team made final recommendations for BP to sell off its wind interests in the U.S. (as this does not align with BP's efficiency strategy) as well as continue fostering the Rosneft relationship to achieve long-term production levels.

Academic Thesis:
In 2011 I finished writing a thesis titled Real Rights. Listed below are the following: the abstract to my thesis and the videos of my thesis presentation.

Abstract

Throughout the history of the United States, there have been a number of instances where Americans have argued to exercise their rights through movements such as the feminist movement, gay rights, handicap rights, and welfare programs for the elderly and poor. In order to understand what real rights are, I trace the development of the concept of individual rights, first acknowledged by John Locke and then further enumerated in The Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson. I also use Ayn Rand’s essay on man’s rights in order to fully convey the moral basis for individual rights and the necessary conditions conducive to exercising these rights. After giving a logical explanation of what individual rights are via the ideas of Locke, Jefferson, and Rand, I use it to determine whether or not collective rights, rights belonging to a group, infringe upon the rights of the individual. To demonstrate this, I focus on aspects of feminism (women’s suffrage and the right to equal pay and opportunity, contraceptives, and abortions), and support my argument with instances of gay rights, handicap rights, and welfare programs like the Social Security program, the Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act, and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Distinguishing between rights to action as against rights to free goods and services, I demonstrate, by example, which rights are real as against those that violate our founding principles, concluding that our future prosperity requires a staunch defense of real rights.
